hello, i’m here and here’s an update

Holy shit, stop traffic, this gal pal is back.

I know I know, I’m the worst, but life gets a little hectic¬†every now and then eh?

SO, I thought I would give a little update on what’s been up.

If you follow me on social media (if you’re not, follow), then you would know that the bf was away for 3 months traveling Thailand, Bali and then a little bit of Australia for the first bit of the year. What a whirlwind I tell you.

I had to get used to sleeping alone (star fishing is only so great for so long), deal with a 12 hour time difference and I no longer had anyone else cooking me meals (I’m kind of lazy in the kitchen).

But, in all seriousness, the positives outweighed the negatives.

I got to focus a lot more on myself and take care of things that I had been putting off. I gained back some independence, learned to be a 3rd or even 5th wheel at times and I made sure to plan some of my own travel as well.

When he got back in May, we did a little getaway weekend for the two of us and man were they amazing spots to visit. I’ll share a few pictures of the places we stayed at. You can find them on Airbnb.

We decided to do some glamping in the Muskoka’s and we were not disappointed. We had never done something like this before and it was just perfect. The entire weekend was rainy, so we were the only ones in this forest retreat and it was so magical!

There was a wood burning stove just to the right of this bed and it kept us oh so toasty!

Although we didn’t sit outside on these chairs, it was such a cute setup! Nice deck that looked out into the forest with a little stream. And I just love the smoke coming out of our tent.

This was our path to breakfast the next morning which took place in the main house. Breakfast that is made for you? Uh yes.

PS. I got A LOT of questions about our glamping experience, so here’s the link where you can book it and here’s a link for $50 if you’ve never tried Airbnb

The next place we stayed was in a different little town in the Muskoka’s. I didn’t take any pictures of the place because the backyard view is what made book it.

We also did a tour at the Muskoka brewery which I highly recommend.

How gorgeous are these barrels?

On the way home, we stopped into Barrie and did a beer tour there as well.

Flying Monkeys had great food and a cool setup in regards to their decor. Super quirky and interesting. Here’s a snap I took of one of the coolest bathrooms I’ve ever seen.

Overall, it was an amazing trip and no matter where you are, I suggest road trips and getting out of the city!

In other news…

We also moved! Just before the bf came back, I moved into a much bigger space than the last one (yes, the home tour is coming).

It’s been fun settling into a new space and making little changes here and there. I’m thinking this will be the last place we rent, which excites me because I really want to get my hands dirty and do a reno!

AND as far as other plans go, I’ve just been working my tush off, traveling our own beautiful province and getting back into shape.

These were all goals I set for myself in the spring and I’m making them happen.

Life is really good and that makes me happy to say, considering last year was a shit show.

What have you guys been up to? Any big plans for the rest of the summer?

Tell me what goals you’ve set for yourself this year and let me know how they’ve been going!

Talk soon, you beautiful people.
